It has becoming a March Celebration, Google releasing another early Developer Preview of the next major version of Android. For all the Android enthusiasts out there you can check out the Android P Developer Preview right now to take it for a test drive.
Let's take a glance of what these new awesome features are.
Support Notches
Looks like Android Manufacturers are following Apple's iPhone X notch idea. Bloomberg announced a while back that Android P would include support for the iPhone X style notches, looks like that announcement is now official.
Lockdown Mode
Android P now lets you temporarily disable biometric authentication and smart lock. You can momentarily prevent someone from forcing you to unlock your device using biometric methods. So the other person is required to enter PIN, pattern or password to unlock the device.
Autofil in browsers
One limitation of Android Oreo's implementation of Autofill was its inability to work with the browsers.Other than that new Autofill API in Oreo allowed password managers to directly fill in the user id and passwords inside apps. Well, with Android P it's gonna change. The developers of both Password managers and will have to update their apps to integrate the new code.
Kotlin Apps get performance boost
Last year at Google I/O, Google has extended the support for Kotlin programming language. With Android P, Google is giving performance boost to Kotlin based apps which will now be much faster.
New Transition Animations
Android P Transitions have changed a bit in the settings menu. When entering into different options, an animation similar to blinds rolling up occurs, reflecting the action.
Multi-Camera API
Android P allows developers to access multiple camera hardware present on the smartphones as it brings the new multi-camera API. The new API will help developers access data from all the cameras present on a smartphone without any hassle. You can use both front and back camera simultaneously to get multiple frames of reference.
Android P Easter Eggs
Lastly, there's the new Android P Easter Egg which can be accessed by tapping on the Android Version multiple items. The new Easter Egg is the letter P surrounded by colourful concentric circles which are animated flowing outward and inward. The color of the concentric circles also changes every time you open the easter egg after closing it.
